WCU Dallas Alumni Mixer Allows Grads a Chance to Meet

Posted on 08/01/2017

For 24 months, Lindsay Daniel put her nose in her textbooks and did what was needed to fulfill her grandmother's wish for her to become a nurse.

Since graduating from West Coast University, Daniel has been making up for lost time with the WCU Alumni Network. At a recent alumni soirée, she and other WCU nursing alumni met at a Dallas restaurant to get reacquainted and meet graduates from other cohorts.

"It's a way to get back those two years you felt like you lost, to be able to meet up with other alumni, and find out what they're doing," Daniel said. "It's just amazing to hear where everybody is because when we were all in school we were stressed and doing homework with no life. Now we can meet up on the side and have dinner and the WCU Alumni Network has been a very great way to do that."

Daniel, who is now working as a registered nurse with Texas Health Resources, said she loves finding out where her friends are working, what their units are like and what positions they hold.

"If it wasn't for West Coast, we wouldn't be here right now and it's just a great way to enjoy and relax after graduating and just partake in the network.

WCU-Dallas alum Yon Erin Choe said she's always championing West Coast University, either by recommending it to anyone interested in being a nurse or by calling old classmates and trying to get them to come out to alumni events.

"I've graduated from other universities that don't have a very supportive alumni group and this is one of the best ones that I've participated in, so I highly recommend it for everyone," Choe said.
