The Career Services department at West Coast University-Orange County expanded its “Coffee with Career Services” event this February to include employers in the community to network with students.
Each term, the WCU Career Services departments on each campus host "Coffee and Careers" events to introduce themselves and the services they offer to students. This time, WCU-OC students got to spend some of their free time talking to organizations offering opportunities like paid caregiving positions and extension programs, in addition to the usual free coffee, treats and advice.
“We really wanted to integrate more opportunities for the students,” Kelsey Jimenez, a career services specialist for WCU-OC, said.
Career Services also held mixers for both the bachelor of science in nursing program and the bachelor of science in dental hygiene program at WCU-OC. At the Manchester Building, representatives from 24Hr Homecare and COPE Solutions met with students early in the week. Two days later at the dental hygiene facility, COPE Solutions and Care To Stay Home were present.
“We’re really excited to be sharing opportunities with current students for volunteering, caregiving and how Career Services can assist them right now,” Jimenez added.
