WCU MSOT Program Kicks Off 2018 with Pinning Ceremony at Center for Graduate Studies

Posted on 01/12/2018

West Coast University began 2018 with a celebration for its “blue” master of science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) students.

On Jan. 11 at the at WCU-Center for Graduate Studies in Los Angeles, 28 MSOT students plus their family and faculty gathered for a pinning ceremony signifying the cohort’s readiness to start clinical rotations — the last step of the program before graduation in August.

“I am really proud of all the hard work our students have put in so far,” MSOT Dean and program director Dr. Stacey Willis shared. “They are all eager, compassionate and outgoing. I am looking forward to seeing what they will achieve during their clinical rotations.”

After faculty in attendance spoke to their students and expressed their pride, student speaker Alyson Fisher, shared her favorite memories with her fellow students.

“My favorite part about WCU was the community, friends, and relationships that I'm going to have forever after graduation,” Fisher said.

After the ceremony, MSOT student Christina Varela also reflected on her time at WCU.

“I never thought that I would leave WCU with a new family of 27 other people. I really love the program and wouldn’t have it any other way,” Varela shared.

Best of luck to our MSOT students as they move on to their clinical rotations and we look forward to seeing them back on campus this summer to finish their term!
